Hand trucks are sometimes also called dollies, these are for loads up to 500 lbs. A hand truck can be maneuvered easily and is a good option for frequently moving smaller loads. As the weight gets higher, it can be more difficult to operate and higher weights or people with trouble handling a hand truck may be better off with a less demanding option like a pallet truck.
Pallet trucks and pallet jacks are great for larger boxes, heavier loads, or people who have trouble operating hand trucks. Many pallet trucks are economical and can carry loads of around 5,000 lbs. Motorized pallet trucks are either electric or gas powered and can handle large loads of up to 4,000 lbs. Price can vary depending on fork length. Motorized trucks can vary in speed and can usually move both forward and back. Rugged, outdoor motorized pallet trucks are also available.
