There are a lot of paper cutters on the market and all are designed with specific capabilities. I’m a crafter, and I wanted to know what paper cutter or rotary trimmer would be best when I am cutting matte board or foam when working on projects.
This is what I found:
Martin Yale has come out with two green board trimmers: the Martin Yale 715 and 724 StakCut Paper Trimmers. Both of these are able to cut regular paper, (even delicate tissue paper), matte board, cardboard, and textiles. They are also manufactured from Premier brand green board, which is made from recycled materials. Here are some specs on these two cutters:
- Hardened steel blade
- Stacks up to 30 sheets of paper
- Accurately cuts paper, matte board, cardboard, film, tissue and textiles
- Permanent ½” grid and metric rulers
- Ergonomic soft-grip handle
- Patented automatic blade latch locks with every cutting motion
- Finger guard protects entire length of blade
- Torsion spring prevents blade from accidentally falling during operation
The 715 model is smaller than the Martin Yale 724 and weighs 10 lbs less, so it might be the better choice for home or small business users. But either model can do the job when cutting a variety of materials.
