Depending on the type of whiteboard or markerboard you want to mount and its location, hanging a new White Board can differ from model to model. But for most whiteboards, there is a simple installation process you can follow to ensure your whiteboard is hung corrently. If you are looking to hang a whiteboard in an office or classroom, here are some basic steps to keep in mind.
1. Choose the location of the whiteboard
Before you do anything else, measure the size of the wall you want to mount the whiteboard on and make sure that it is big enough to house the size of whiteboard you want. If the wall is too small, you may need to adjust your plans.
2. Mark off the location of the board
After you determine your board’s dimensions, mark off the location on the wall, starting with the bottom edge. Keep in mind, you’ll need to screw the whiteboard clips into a wall stud to make sure the board is hangs securely in place. If you are simply driving screws into drywall, your board will probably fall off the wall soon after it is hung. To avoid this mishap, use a stud finder to determine the location of studs on your wall.
3. Install clips
For heavy-duty whiteboard installations, you’ll need some wall clips. Once you’ve marked off the dimensions of the whiteboard on the wall, install the clips every 2-3 feet along the bottom and top edges, making sure the clips will be firm, yet adjustable, once the board is in place.
4. Hang the whiteboard
Once all the clips are in place, guide your whiteboard into position (you may need some help with this), and hold the whiteboard in place while you adjust the clips snugly against the bottom edge and screw the clips to the bottom of the whiteboard. Continue to hold the whiteboard steady as you finish with the clips along the top edge of the whiteboard.
